Three Dimples in the Riverbed
This book takes the form of a travel journal by Ayane, a second-year student in middle school. With her friend Hana, Ayane goes along on her aunt Fuko’s eight-day research trip to Indonesia. Ayane’s aunt studies ancient rock layers as a paleontologist. At the Solo River, the longest river on Java, Ayane helps perform an investigation of the riverbed, which is a layer from five hundred thousand years ago.
