Children find pill bugs ver y approachable creatures. Not only can they be spotted easily from a child’s eye level, but they do not sting or bite and have no smell. Although their name includes the word “bug”, they are not insects but rather are related to shrimps and crabs. The author has published several books on pill bugs, and this one uses sharp, colorful photographs to introduce pill bugs found on the seashore and in the hills, as well as in the city. Pill bugs come in a variety of colors and patterns: some are a stunning blue, while others have panda-like black and white patterns.
