「ぼくは ふね」と一人称で語る船が主人公。水に浮かび気ままに進んでいたが、大きな船から邪魔にされ、「どこからきたの？」「どこへゆくの？」と他の船からの質問に悩む。嵐に遭い、陸に捨てられ、もう動けないと絶望した後「そのきになれば どこだってすすめる」と気づかされ、自由を得る。半抽象的な絵にちりばめられた遊びを発見するもよし、哲学的に読み込むもよし。デビュー50 年を迎えた作者の「ぼくは ぼく」という独白とも受け取れる作品。黒いケースにフラットな造本、白いフレームの画面のデザインも特別感がある。（広松）

Caught in a storm and washed ashore, the ship despairs of ever sailing again until it realizes that just wanting to go somewhere is enough to set it free. Readers can enjoy the playful touches in the semi-abstract illustrations or savor the author’s philosophy. This work is like a soliloquy on being oneself by an author who debuted fifty years ago.
