Akbar Loves School!
Akbar is in the first grade of elementary school. His school is located high in the mountains, and many children have to walk over an hour to get there. There are 16 students in his class and the new school year has just started. They have language, math, and Koran classes. Akbar writes down words the teacher dictates in his notebook with his precious pencil, and solves math problems counting with his fingers. He plucks up the courage to raise his hand in math class, even though he isn’t too confident. This picture book shows us a day in the life of a boy at elementary school in Afghanistan.
