大きな自然のなか、ぼくは釣り糸を垂らして浮きを見つめ、魚がかかるのをじっと待っている。クモは巣をはり、獲物がかかるのを待っている。花は色と香りで装い、ハチやチョウが止まってくれるのを待っている。サンショウウオは岩の陰で、セミの幼虫は土のなかで、じっとその時が来るのを待っている。自然界では「待つ」ことは、生きていくための必然の時間だ。登場する生物はそれぞれの特徴を押さえて簡略化。風景はラフなタッチだけを生かし、色で見せている。自然の空気を深呼吸するように、現代社会では失われつつある豊かな「待つ」時間を、心地よく思い出すことができる。（広松）
