A photo-picture book that follows the papermaking process at an Osaka paper recycling plant from shredding to pulping to producing crepe paper using processes passed down for more than half a century. Various machines involved in the process are introduced along the way. One hundred tons of water is needed to produce a ton of paper, and the plant produces an average of 2,000 tons of waste water which is treated and discharged into the river. This is one volume in a series of books on familiar things that help children think about SDGs. Other themes in the series include water, plastic, batteries, houses, and garbage trucks. (Sakuma)
