『きみの話を聞かせてくれよ フレーベル館文学の森シリーズ』
扉を開くと、長い三つ編みの子が、学校に住みついている黒ネコ「くろノラ」に、学校に来る子を助けてあげてと語りかける謎めいたプロローグがある。以下、新船（あらふね）中学に通う生徒たちの物語が７話、美術部の白岡六花（しらおかりっか）、ケーキ作りが趣味の轟虎之助（とどろきとらのすけ）、吹奏学部の杉谷夏帆（かほ）、陸上部の西島葵生（あおい）、剣道部の柏木正樹と祇園寺羽紗（ぎおんじうさ）、そして養護教諭の三澄楓（みすみかえで）を語り手として続いていく。同じクラスや部活動、兄弟姉妹といったつながりで、それぞれの物語は少しずつ関わり合っている。例えば、羽紗は女の子からも「かっこいい」と憧れられるイメージを崩さぬよう、大好きなスイーツを虎之助にこっそり作ってもらったり、その虎之助は「かわいい」と女の子たちにかまわれることに違和感を表明したり、夏帆はその虎之助に拒否された吹奏楽部の後輩を心配したり……。「女の子らしさ」「男の子らしさ」といったマジョリティの思考や言葉にふりまわされ、傷ついたり傷つけたりしながらも、関係を築いていこうとする中学生たちの姿が新鮮だ。
そのすべての物語に登場し、学校の中をふらふらしながら、さりげなくひとりひとりの悩みによりそい、関係をつないでいく黒野良輔という存在を設定しているのも、ユニーク。その黒野がプロローグのネコ「くろノラ」と重なって見えてくるため、学校という場で「自分らしさ」を貫く難しさを描きつつも、全体にユーモラスでしなやかな雰囲気が保たれている。（奥山）

Tell Me Your Story
At the beginning of this book, a mysterious prologue unfolds, in which a girl with long, braided hair asks a black stray cat living at a school to take care of the students who will come in the future.
Then, some seven stories unfold about students who attend the school, Arafune Middle School. The narrators are Rikka Shiraoka of the art club, cakebaking enthusiast Toranosuke Todoroki, Kaho Sugitani of the band, Aoi Nishijima of the track team, Masaki Kashiwagi and Usa Gionji of the kendo team, and finally Kaede Misumi, the school nurse. The stories connect little by little via class, club, or sibling bonds between students.
Gender norms surface as a theme. For example, Usa wants to maintain a “cool” masculine image she has, even among the girls, so when she asks Toranosuke to make her sweets, which she loves, she does so secretly. For his part, Toranosuke reveals that he feels odd being called “cute,” even by girls. Kaho worries about a younger band member who had a crush on Toranosuke but was rejected. And so it goes . . . buffeted by assumptions about what’s “girllike” and “boy-like,” and injured and injuring, the students struggle to build relationships and pursue what is “me-like” in these fresh narratives.
Ryosuke Kurono also plays a part. Appearing in all the stories, roaming the school grounds, and keeping track of everyone, Kurono is like the cat in the prologue and helps to keep the tone of the collection light. (Okuyama)
