ブタとイノシシの交配によって生まれたイノブタ君を主人公に、命の意味を問う読み物。山から下りてきたイノシシが里のブタ小屋で暮らすうちにイノブタ君が生まれる。ある日、遊びに出かけたイノブタ君は人間の罠にかかり、動物園に送られてしまう。イノブタ君は動物園で、人間の手によって作られた、馬とロバの 子ヒニーや、トラとライオンの子ライガーなどと出会う。人間の身勝手さについて考えさせられる。動物が、自然とともに生きることによって、本来の姿を取り戻していくさまが印象的。
