Dandelions are often seen near where people live, growing where other plants cannot, such as the narrow cracks in concrete and pedestrian sidewalks and on roadsides. Their flowers look like they have many petals, but each “petal” is actually a flower with a stamen and a pistil. When the flowers are finished, they turn into fluffy wands with a seed attached to the bottom. Forming a sphere, they look like a beautiful burst of fireworks. The wands are blown by the wind, scattering the seeds far and wide. Even when crushed underfoot or dug up, dandelions are not defeated.
