『ナナカラやまものがたり １～３ くまおばあちゃんのジャム 他』
ナナカラやまに住む動物たちが語る形の幼年童話集。
第１巻「くまおばあちゃんのジャム」は、くまおばあちゃんがジャムを作るために、孫といっしょに森へ行き、野イチゴを摘む。次に、ミツバチからハチミツをもらい、そのお礼として「はなひつじやま」の名前の由来を語る。おばあちゃんは帰宅してジャムを作り、夜、孫のために、たぬきの娘さんがおばあちゃんからもらったナッツをひとりじめしようとして災難に遭った話を語る。
第２巻「ねこのかぞくのおはなし」は、ネコの父さんが家族のために秘密で新しい家を建てるストーリー。父さんと５匹の子ネコは、泉へ水くみに行き、「ながれもののねことみずのかみさま」という、水を粗末に使ったネコが水の神様に罰を与えられた話を、父さんが語る。
第３巻「コジュケイふうふのちいさないえ」は、コジュケイ夫婦の家にカナヘビちゃんとボーイフレンドのトカゲくんが遊びにきて、カナヘビちゃんが忘れ物をしてイヌのおばさんに助けてもらった話をする。また、コジュケイじいさんは、今住んでいる家をどうやって作ったかという話を語る。それから、みんなでナナカラやまのお祭りへ行き、コジュケイじいさんが、ナナカラやまの名前の由来を語る。すべてのページに著者によるカラーの絵があり、山に暮らす動物たちがお話や食べものを分かち合い、自然とともに豊かに生きる姿がいきいきと描かれている。（土居）

This is a collection of early childhood fairy tales told by the animals living on Mount Seven Crows. In “Granny Bear’s Jam,” Granny Bear goes to the forest with her grandson to pick wild strawberries to make some jam. They are given some honey by the honeybees, and by way of thanks they tell them how Mount Flower Sheep got its name. Back home, Granny Bear makes the jam, and at night she tells how the tanuki’s daughter met with misfortune when she tried to keep the nuts her granny gave her all to herself.
In “Stories from the Cat Family,” Daddy Cat is secretly building a new house for the family. He takes his five kittens to get water from the lake, and tells them the story of a cat that was punished by the water god for wasting water.
In “Mr and Mrs Bamboo Partridge’s Small House,” a grass lizard and her boyfriend the skink lizard come to visit Mr and Mrs Bamboo Partridge, and the grass lizard tells them how Auntie Dog helped her remember something she had forgotten. The Bamboo Partridge couple tell them the story of how they built the house they currently live in. Then everyone goes to the Mount Seven Crows festival, and Mr Bamboo Partridge tells the story of how the mountain got its name.
All the pages are illustrated in color by the author, vividly portraying all the animals that live on the mountain sharing their stories and food, and the richness of living with nature. (Doi)
