The Tiny Shrew
A tiny shrew who lives in human society is the main character of three stories in this book. In “The Tiny Shrew’s Daily Life,” the shrew rides the train, toils at work, and then goes home to sleep. In “The Tiny Shrew’s Dream,” the shrew buys a TV at a garage sale, views the sea on it, and then begins wishing to travel to a tropical island. In “The Tiny Shrew’s Friends,” the shrew spends an evening at year’s end with two mates. The shrew’s life (lower middle class) may seem mundane, but at a time when war and disaster have stolen normal life from many, this book causes the reader to see its value anew through detailed depictions.
