農家に住む子ネコのルイは、きょうだいとかくれんぼをしていて、馬車の荷台に隠れて寝てしまう。気がつくと、馬車は見知らぬ場所に来ていて、森を抜けて家に帰ることにする。途中でカタツムリに怖いクモがいることを教えられ、カエルから川の飛び越え方を、ウサギからダンスを学び、留守番中に母を求めて泣いている子ジカにも出会う。それから、巨大なクモに襲われるが、ルイのお母さんがやってきて助けてくれる。帰宅後、ルイはきょうだいにダンスを教える。ネコのしぐさや表情が魅力的で、ルイの冒険が楽しめる。（土居）

Rui’s Adventure
Rui, a kitten that lives on a farm, crawls inside a cart while playing hide-and-seek and falls asleep. He wakes to find himself in a strange place and decides to cut through the forest to get home. On the way, he meets a snail who warns him a scary spider lurks in the forest, a frog who teaches him how to jump across the river, and a bunny rabbit who teaches him to dance. When he meets a fawn who is crying for its mother, Rui cries too. A giant spider attacks him, but he is saved by his mother who has come looking for him. Home again, Rui teaches his siblings to dance. The illustrations capture the kitten’s actions and expressions in this enchanting adventure story. (Doi)
