絵本の表紙から裏表紙までオレンジ色の１本の線でつながり、その線が道に見立てられて、女の子と男の子とイヌがいろいろな冒険をするという作品。彼らは散歩道を歩いたり、自転車で坂道をのぼったり、スキーで森の雪道を通り抜けたり、ラクダに乗ってさばくを横切ったりする。途中で「よりみち」もする。それから路地裏の道を通り、迷路も歩く。最後に、線（＝道）がとぎれているところをジャンプして、また歩き続ける。１本の線の見立てがユーモラスで、道のまわりの風景の変化も楽しい。（土居）

Road
An orange line runs through the book from the front cover to the back, representing a road along which a girl, a boy and a dog travel and encounter many adventures. In one place, the line is broken and the three characters must jump over the gap. They walk along the road, pedal bicycles uphill, ski through a snow-covered forest, and cross a desert on the back of a camel. Along the way, they take a detour and wander lost in back lanes, get caught at a train crossing, take the long way around to avoid the rain, and make their way through mazes and down long roads.
