夏休み、こうたくんの家にいとこの一家がやってきた。ケーキを食べたら、近くのプールへ。帰ってきたらそうめん、天ぷら、のり巻きで昼ごはん。昼寝から起きたらスイカを食べ、浴衣に着替えてお祭りへ。楽しかった一日の終わり、子どもたちは満ち足りた表情で眠りにつく。夏の楽しさがぎゅっと詰まっていて、読後、幸せな余韻が残る。異なる角度からの視点がひとつの画面に共存する構図や、キャンバスの質感を生かした彩色もユニーク。観音開きのページいっぱいに人や屋台が描き込まれたお祭りのシーンは圧巻だ。（笹岡）

Summer Holiday
