とんがり帽子の少年がイヌといっしょに旅に出る。途中でリンゴをもぎ取って食べると耳がだんだん大きくなる。イチゴを食べると鼻がイチゴ色になり、伸びてトリたちがとまる。池のサカナが口の中に飛び込み魚に変身。シロップを飲んでノミになったり、畑のダイコンをかじって巨大化したり、キノコを食べて怪物に変身したり。最後は、キノコを食べて巨大化したイヌが、たき火を囲んで少年といっしょに踊り狂う怪物たちを駆逐する。無事帰宅するまで文字はない。奇想天外な旅がサイレント・アニメのように楽しい。（野上）

On a Journey
A boy with a pointy hat sets off with his dog. He plucks and eats an apple, and his ears grow bigger and bigger. He eats a strawberry, and his nose grows long and red, and birds perch on it. A fish jumps out of a pond into the boy’s mouth, turning him into a fish. A sip of syrup changes him into a flea, a mouthful of daikon makes him a giant, and a mushroom turns him into a monster. The boy dances around the campfire with a band of monsters until his dog, transformed into a giant after eating a mushroom, chases them away. Together, the dog and the boy return home safely. The book has no text, and the bizarre journey unfolds like a funny cartoon. (Nogami)
