タイトルページには寒そうに羽を動かす小さなテントウムシが１匹。ページをめくると、桜の花びらが舞い散る春の景色が広がる。テントウムシは川面に落ちた花びらを船にして、皆に春の訪れを知らせにいく。ハチや、友だちのチョウもやってきて、「はるきたよ」と告げながら川を下る。淡い色彩の大胆なタッチの水彩画が、美しい春の森の様子を躍動感いっぱいに描き出す。やさしく、語りかけてくるような言葉のリズムも心地よい。森の生きものたちが、待ちわびていた春の訪れを喜び合う気持ちが、絵本からあふれ出る。（汐﨑）

The Cherry Blossom Boat
The title page shows a small, cold ladybird flapping her wings. Turning the page, we are presented with a spring landscape with cherry blossom petals fluttering down. The ladybird makes a petal that lands on the surface of the river into her boat, and goes to inform the creatures of the forest that spring has arrived. A bee and two butterfly friends come and join her on the boat, and the four of them float downstream telling everyone “Spring has come!” The beautiful spring forest is full of vitality, depicted in delicately hued watercolors with a bold, and there is a pleasant rhythm to the words gently speaking to us. This illustrated book is overflowing with the creatures of the forest joyfully welcoming the long-awaited spring. (Shiozaki)
