This volume is part of a series of picture books based on picture scrolls. The story develops over the course of a three-meter long picture, which is folded accordion-style inside the book. The author is a pioneer of nonsense picture books in Japan. In this one, children on a school outing enter the aquarium through the open mouth of a fish on the front cover, to encounter an array of surprises, such as a walking shark, a shrimp bus, an old man dugong, and underpant squids.
