『この手はいつか』
福岡に住む真潮（ましお）は、級友のいたずらを注意し、それに反論されて暴力をふるい、母親が学校に呼び出されて理不尽さと情けなさを感じる。その気分のまま迎えた１学期の最終日に熱中症にかかり、疎遠になっていた陶芸家の祖父が萩から迎えにきてくれて、母と別れて夏休みを過ごす。祖父の元で陶芸を体験し、祖父の飼い犬の散歩をし、近所の少女と友だちになり、祖父と母のわだかまりを知ることで、自分の母との関係や自分自身を見つめ直すことができるようになる。夏休みの経験を通して成長する真潮の様子がすがすがしい。（土居）

Someday I Will
When Mashio tells off a classmate for being naughty, the boy argues back so he hits him, resulting in his mother being summoned to school. Mashio feels this is unfair and is miserable. His mood hasn’t improved by the last day of the first semester, and he ends up suffering from heatstroke. His estranged grandfather, a potter, comes all the way to Fukuoka from the famous pottery town of Hagi to fetch him, and Mashio spends his summer vacation in Hagi away from his mother, trying pottery, walking his grandfather’s dog, and becoming friends with a local girl. Learning of the troubled relationship between his grandfather and mother enables Mashio to re-examine his own relationship with his mother. It is inspiring to see how much he grows over the summer.
