Upset at being teased because he’s left-handed, Yuto meets five penguins at a railroad crossing. His friend Nanako has promised Ruri to check out a rumor that children playing in the park have been licked by a snake-shaped playground piece. Ruri feels bad about arguing with her and wants to be friends again. Kosuke is hiding in the library because the other kids call him Fartman. These and other children encounter various strange phenomena, such as a lion that appears in the school mirror and wants to learn how to braid his mane, and an owl that predicts the weather by kicking a wooden sandal into the air. As the refreshing story of these encounters unfolds, each character’s convoluted feelings are gradually untangled and replaced by mutual respect and friendship. (NOGAMI)
