小学５年生の風花がひとり暮らしのおじいちゃんに１年間毎月会いにいく様子を描いた作品。おじいちゃんの家の庭からは生と死の境界とも異世界への道とも言える「けものみち」が続いている。ふたりは、「けものみち」から来た小さい人に出会ったり、カラスの化身のような少女に出会ったり、月が出た空に虹を見たりする。風花は、子ども時代のおじいちゃんが「けものみち」で迷子になっているのを夢で見て、おじいちゃんを救う。情景描写が美しく、不思議な体験を受け入れながらも祖父と孫が心を通わせていく様子が印象深い。（土居）

The Garden on Monster Path
Fuka is in Year 5 of elementary school. This story follows her over the year as she visits her grandfather, who lives alone, every month. Leading from the garden is what is known as the Monster Path, said to be the boundary between life and death or the path to the other world. There the two of them encounter a diminutive man, a girl who looks just like a crow, and a rainbow in the moonlit sky. Fuka dreams that her grandfather got lost on the Monster Path in his youth, and saves him. The scenes are beautifully described, and the way the grandfather and granddaughter connect with each other while accepting their strange experiences leaves a deep impression. (Doi)
