Orihime the Avatar Robot
Orihime is a robot that makes it possible for people who can’t work outside the home to connect with society through remote control. With the robot, they can work at such jobs as café baristas or company receptionists. A young man who had once dropped out of elementary school went on to study at a technical college where he researched robots that used AI to comfort people. The aim was to eliminate people’s loneliness. He soon realized, however, that what had solved his own loneliness was meeting and engaging with people. He therefore decided not to equip the robot with AI and instead developed Orihime, a robot that connects people to people. The numerous photos convey the researcher’s
