『車のいろは空のいろ ゆめでもいい』
半世紀以上読みつがれてきたシリーズに、新たなこの巻が加わった。空色のタクシーを運転する松井五郎さんが不思議なできごとに遭遇する７話が入っている。このタクシーが乗せるのは、人間だけではない。人間の男の子に化けたつもりで、お金に変えたつもりのイチョウの葉で料金を払う子ダヌキも乗ってくる。そんなときでも松井さんは、だまされたふりをする。動物たちも松井さんを助けてくれる。走ってきた女の子を避けようとあわててハンドルを切ったときは、溝にはまったタイヤを道路にもどすのを、女の子の家族（じつはタヌキの一家）が助けてくれた。
心やさしい松井さんは、夜中の公園でブランコから落ちた子どもを見れば、タクシーを停めて駆けつけるが、話しているうちに、遊んでいたのは月の光で人間に変身していた小ネコたちだったとわかる。雪に埋まりそうなぬいぐるみを見つけたときも、運転席から降りて拾い上げ、目立つところに置いておく。すると、後になって、そのぬいぐるみを抱いた親子が乗ってきたりもする。松井さんのタクシーは時空も超える。愛犬を探す男の子を乗せたときは、そのイヌが月の原で仲間と楽しく遊んでいるのを見たのだが、その後、男の子は現実世界では老人で、戦争で飼えなくなった愛犬にどうしても会いたかったのだとわかる。夢と現実のあわいから不思議な世界へ飛び立つことのできる短編集。（さくま）

This volume is a new addition to a series that has been read for over half a century, featuring seven stories about a kindhearted taxi driver called Goro Matsui who witnesses strange happenings in his sky-blue taxi.
He pretends to be taken in by a young tanuki (raccoon dog) that believes that it has changed into a human boy and tries to pay the fare with a ginkgo leaf instead of money. In return, he is helped by a family of tanukis when he ends up with a wheel in a ditch after braking and swerving to avoid a little girl (actually a tanuki) who runs out in front of him chasing a ball.
Driving through the park at night he sees a little boy fall off the swing, and stops his taxi to help, eventually realizing that the children are kittens that had taken on human form in the moonlight. And when he sees a stuffed toy in the snow, he picks it up and puts it somewhere it will easily be found. Later a mother and son get into his taxi carrying the same toy.
Mr. Matsui’s taxi also transcends time and space. When he picks up a boy searching for his pet dog, they find the dog playing happily with his friends in the moonlight. On the way back, he discovers that the boy was actually an old man who had longed to see his pet dog that had been taken away during the war.
A heart-warming collection that provides glimpses into the space between dreams and reality. (Sakuma)
